Ann E. Pratt, MD, FACS
General Surgeon
Dr. Pratt is a board certified General Surgeon who grew up in nearby Northern California. Following graduation from the University of Nevada School of Medicine, Dr. Pratt completed her internship and residency in Las Vegas at University Medical Center. After graduation, she spent four years working in a busy private practice in Las Vegas where she performed a wide range of surgeries. She is certified in Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery and Acute Trauma and Life Support. She was trained and certified on the da Vinci Surgical System and is a true believer in robotic surgery. Her expertise in robotic surgery include the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease, hernias, colon and rectal surgeries. She is a member of the American Medical Association and the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Pratt is pleased to be back home in Northern Nevada where she plans to continue a diverse surgical practice.
Michelle K. Chu, MD, FACS
General Surgeon
Dr. Chu is a board-certified surgeon who grew up in Northeastern Ohio, received her undergraduate degree from University of Pennsylvania, and then obtained her medical degree from Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. She completed her general surgery residency in Portland, Maine, and has been practicing in Reno since 2004. Dr. Chu has extensive experience with advanced breast cancer treatment, offering a wide range of surgical options including oncoplastic breast conservation surgery, where plastic surgery techniques are incorporated to best preserve the natural shape and contour of the breast, and scars are often hidden. She also performs nipple sparing mastectomies for appropriately selected patients, and works closely with experienced plastic surgeons to provide the best cosmetic outcome possible. She also specializes in laparoscopic gallbladder removal, laparoscopic and open hernia repair, laparoscopic and open intestinal surgery, port placement, excision of lipomas and other soft tissue lumps, and hemorrhoid surgery. Dr. Chu has served as the Renown Regional Medical Center Surgery Department chairman and Washoe Medical Society president.
Amanda C. VanderClay, MD, FACS
General Surgeon
Dr. VanderClay was born and raised in San Diego, California and attended college at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. She received her medical degree from the University of California at San Diego School of Medicine in 2007. She then completed her residency in General Surgery at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 2012. She is Board Certified in General Surgery. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, American Society of Clinical Oncology, Nevada State Medical Society and Washoe County Medical Society. She is currently an NSMA delegate. Dr. VanderClay’s interests include gallbladder surgery, repair of hernias of the abdomen, groin, and hiatal and paraesophageal hernias, breast surgery for cancer and non-cancerous conditions, colon and skin and soft tissue tumors. She has a special interest in advanced surgery techniques including robotic and laparoscopic surgery. She is currently offering robotic gallbladder and hernia surgery, with single incision surgery for gallbladder removal.
Robert J. Nachtsheim, MD
General Surgeon
Dr. Nachtsheim was born in Oakland, California, and attended college at Boise State University in Idaho.  He received his medical degree from the University of Nevada in Reno.  Dr. Nachtsheim completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, and is Board Certified in General Surgery.
Paul M. Stumpf, MD, FACS
General Surgeon
Dr. Stumpf has lived in Reno since 1973. He attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where he graduated cum laude with a major in cellular biology and a minor in European history. He then attended the University of Nevada School of Medicine and graduated in 1988. He completed his residency in General Surgery from the University of Iowa in 1994 and moved back to Reno the same year. He has been Department of Surgery Chairman at both Renown and Saint Mary’s, as well as President of the Washoe County Medical Society and delegate to the Nevada State Medical Association meetings. Dr. Stumpf is active in teaching medical students from the University of Nevada School of Medicine and participates in the Washoe County Medical Society’s lay internship program. He is Board Certified, with two recertifications and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
